Band bio (English):
Avant La Lettre is an Amsterdam based band. Their music is layered and compulsive, but als light and lucid at the same time. In 2009 they released a home-recorded demo and were picked by 3VOOR12 as Hollandse Nieuwe. Later that year they played an extensive Popronde tour. In 2010 they were chosen to record two tracks with JB Meijers for Muziek Centrum Nederland’s Unsigned project. The tracks were released on a compilation album called “Sixpack, what’s in a song?“.
In 2011 recordings took place for their forthcoming album. They worked with JB Meijers and Ken Stringfellow. They signed with Rough Trade, and officially announced the release of their debut album BELIEF on February 17th 2012. A track from the album, “Jesus Come Back”, was released as a preview and can be heard or downloaded here.

Avant La Lettre maakt verontrustende popmuziek. Gelaagd, dwingend, licht, maar niet lichtzinnig. In 2009 brengen zij een ‘home-recorded’ demo uit en worden ze door 3VOOR12 uitgekozen als Hollandse Nieuwe. Later dat jaar worden ze de meest geboekt band van de Popronde. In 2010 worden ze gevraagd om 2 nummers op te nemen met JB Meijers voor het Unsigned project van Muziek Centrum Nederland. De nummers komen uit op het compilatie-album “Sixpack, what’s in a song?“.
In 2011 maken en zij opnames voor hun debuutalbum. Hiervoor werken zij samen met JB Meijers en Ken Stringfellow. In oktober tekenen zij een distributiedeal bij Rough Trade, en kondigen zij officieel de release van het album “BELIEF” op 17 februari 2012 aan. Een eerste nummer van het album, “Jesus Come Back”, wordt gratis als voorproefje aangeboden. Luister of download hier.
